Floor Maintenance

Floors play a large role in the function and aesthetics of a commercial space. They are designed to withstand the wear and tear of high foot traffic, equipment, dirt and debris, and spills and stains at a busy workplace. Over the decades, we have worked with many types of flooring, including vinyl, tile, hardwood, polished concrete and carpets. Within your comprehensive commercial cleaning package, we can customize a cleaning and floor maintenance program that preserves the longevity of your floors and creates a welcoming atmosphere for employees, customers, and visitors.

Our regular floor cleaning services include sweeping, vacuuming and mopping the floors using professional quality equipment, eco-friendly products and safe techniques. We use prominent wet floor signs to avoid slips and falls.

Every so often, all floors require maintenance to keep them functional and durable. Some examples include:

Vinyl & Linoleum Floor Maintenance

For routine cleaning, we use pH-balanced cleaning products to preserve your floor’s natural shine and durability. Periodically, we will recommend deep cleaning and refinishing. Vinyl floor maintenance includes stripping and waxing to restore the shine and create a fresh protective barrier against stains and scuffs. Linoleum floors require sealing at the seams and corners to prevent warping and mildew growth.

High-Gloss Floor Maintenance

High-gloss floors are popular in commercial settings, like lobbies, showrooms and retail environments. In addition to their sleek and sophisticated aesthetics, they can make a space visually brighter and appear larger. Polished concrete can withstand very high traffic and the reflective surface can hide dirt and dust, allowing the floor to look cleaner for longer.

High-gloss floors require frequent buffing, using a polishing machine with soft pads that restore lustre to dull areas while removing scuffs, scratches and dirt. Less frequently, we will also recommend burnishing. This type of floor maintenance is done with a high-speed burnishing machine with rotating pads that polish your floor to a mirror-like finish. Burnishing also seals pores on the surface and adds protection against dirt, scratches and damage.

Tile & Grout Floor Maintenance

Ceramic and porcelain tile floors are popular for commercial spaces. They withstand heavy foot traffic and are relatively easy to clean and maintain. Our regular cleaning services include vacuuming or dust mopping the tile floor. A damp mop with eco-friendly cleaning agents can remove stains and grime build-up. We pay special attention to grout lines where dirt can collect to prevent them from becoming discoloured. We often recommend mats or other floor coverings at entrances to avoid tracking dirt and debris. High-traffic areas sometimes require a more robust cleaning with a floor machine to lift embedded grime off tiles and grout.

Tile floor maintenance preserves its appearance and longevity. We recommend periodic deep cleaning with specialized cleaning agents designed for commercial tiles; some tile floors also need floor sealers applied to keep them shiny and durable. Over time, grout lines require targeted cleaning with grout cleaners or steam.

Hardwood Floor Polishing

Like tile floors, we may recommend entry mats to reduce the amount of dirt and debris tracked onto the wood floor. Also, wooden floors get scratched when chairs and tables are dragged over them. Protective pads under furniture legs can help reduce the damage where chronic scratching occurs. Regular vacuuming and mopping help keep abrasive materials from accumulating on the floor.

Over time, commercial hardwood floors become dull and worn. Polishing restores their original lustre by filling in scratches and creating a protective layer that guards against further damage.

As part of your service package, we will schedule your hardwood floor maintenance on weekends or after hours. After vacuuming and mopping the floor with a pH-balanced wood floor cleaner, we will allow it to dry completely before applying the polish. Depending on your floor, we may use polyurethane or wax polishes that get applied and buffed evenly with our high-quality floor polisher.
